Tata Motors has raised prices across its entire passenger vehicle range from September 1, 2026. The increase goes up to Rs 25,000 and applies to petrol, diesel and electric models alike. How much your car costs extra depends on the model and variant. A price hike right before the festive season feels odd from the outside, but manufacturers often do this deliberately. Raise the sticker now, and the festive discount announced next month looks bigger without costing the company anything.
The EMI math, in plain numbers
Say you were eyeing a mid variant of the Nexon. A Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 bump lands straight on your loan. On a 5-year loan that is roughly Rs 350 to Rs 450 more per month. Sounds small until you multiply by 60 months and add interest, at which point you realise you are paying the full hike and then some. If you booked before September 1 and your dealer offered price protection, take delivery quickly. If you booked without price protection in writing, call your dealer today and ask which price applies to you.
Meanwhile, Renault is handing out discounts
This is the fun part of the car market. One company raises prices, another opens the discount tap the same month. Renault’s September 2026 offers cover all four of its models. Benefits go up to Rs 40,000 on the Kwid and up to Rs 1.30 lakh on the Duster. The exact numbers vary by state, so confirm with your local dealer before you plan around them.
